All of my students are English Language Learners in grades K-4 in an inner city school in Cleveland, Ohio. Their English language proficiency differs from emerging to progressing. Their past educational experiences range from non-existing to limited. As a result, their instructional needs are very diverse. To meet their specific instructional needs, I need to provide them with various types of modelling. Modelling is a very effective instructional strategy as it allows the students to observe the teacher's thought processes, and observe the teacher demonstrate a task which students will be expected to do on their own. It also engages the students who have already mastered a skill to model for their own peers, thus providing a more supporting environment for all learners. A document camera reader will facilitate these interactions and communications between the teacher and all the learners in the classroom.
