The landscape of education has shifted towards digitization last year. As we welcome students back to our physical schools, it becomes necessary to transfer the best lessons learned about education technology to the traditional classroom. Students are looking forward to coming back to a welcoming and warm community.
To facilitate their learning while supporting their social and emotional learning, it is necessary to evolve our methods of teaching and the physical spaces in which they learn. The Apple TV will allow me to share my iPad screen with the classroom TV (currently impossible without the Apple TV) for note taking; the digitized notes will be shared on Google Classroom for equitable access. The voice amplifier will further aid in note taking by allowing all students to hear me in the classroom, even with my mask on.
All other equipment (lights, bulletin paper, surge protector, etc) is designed to aid the student transition from the home to the classroom, supporting their social and emotional learning development. The warm lights and sustainable bulletin paper will create a more calming and familiar environment for students who may not be used to attending in-person learning again. The shift from the current fluorescent lighting to warm string lights will further reduce stress on students’ eyes with the extended use of screens in the classroom.
