Masks will help students and teachers feel safe enough to begin the hard work of returning to school after COVID-19 distance learning. Teachers often have to get close to students and we do not yet have resources to stay a 6 ft safe distance. Many children do not have masks at home or will lose them and this at least will be a safe place where teachers can provide without stigma. In our school system it is to be noted that students' do not have access to adequate hygiene or soap in the bathroom-a mask is one way they can curb some transmission.
