My students attend school in a small, rural community. The nearest town is 20 miles away and resources are limited. People in the community stay within the community and there is no a lot of contact with the “outside world.” Many young people do not even leave home to attend college but instead travel to the local campus. While the closeness of our community is an admirable trait, students that are going to thrive in the future global economy need authentic global experiences. They need to connect with others to collaborate and share in order to grow academically and personally. Through the use of technology I will provide the basic foundation elements that our students will need to be successful global citizens. These skills are necessary for students that stay close to their roots as well as those that venture forth into the outside world.
