Our school is one of three elementary schools in our South Carolina community of about 15,000. 75% of my students are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Most parents value education and encourage their children to do likewise although many expect the school to bear sole responsibility. The majority of the kindergarten students in our classroom are participating in a structured learning environment for the first time. Eager young minds need stimulating learning experiences at every possible opportunity. The only educational stimulation that many of our children receive is in the classroom.
