As part of our responsive classroom, we meet each morning for our ‘morning meeting’. Unfortunately, it is on our tile floor. Trying to build a welcoming atmosphere and classroom community is challenging when the conditions we sit in are uncomfortable and uninviting. A rug will make our space bright, inviting and comfortable. Students will be able to stretch out and read a book or gather to work or group projects. During mini-lessons, read alouds, or readers’/writers’ workshop students will have their own designated spot to optimize their learning. Having this classroom rug will be a game-changer to a more welcoming classroom.
