Students commonly read novels and short stories that are of no interest to them in the classroom. In an attempt to engage our students with more than a boring book, we are attempting to read Lord of the Flies. This is a classic novel that will get our students interested. In the novel students will find, chaos, fundamentally savage human nature, a pig, and a plane crash. This story will get all students wanting to read, even those young males who always say they "hate reading." We will be able to not only read the story but also act parts out (of course none of the scary parts). We plan to listen to the story on an audio file, but also have students practice partner read aloud and in class read alouds.

About my class
