Inviting, comfy, cozy and purposeful, I am describing our calming corner. Whether it is to help the tears or center our student's energy, our corner will help students that cannot help themselves. Our corner will have colored pillows that describes the emotion they are feeling and the students will work towards sitting on the green (calm) carpet with no pillow by the time they are done. This corner will be a place they can focus on something else! Our STEM based manipulatives will help them create, students can use the easel to draw how they are feeling or they can use beads to make something for someone they are missing. Whatever the student's emotional need is, we will have the tool! This corner will be used in conjunction with our "class regulating system that is based on emotions having colors. There are no colors that are "bad" just colors that might need some help to get back on track and this corner will help them accomplish that independently!
