Our students are a prime example of how much elementary school kids need some form of exercise or sport. The first thing I can say is that their energy is focused on soccer; we have almost no absences from practices and games (over 90% attendance). When we run into them in the school hallways, they only ask about practices and the Saturday game schedule. During our practices, they have fun and joke around with each other, and what we manage to achieve is for them to support one another, whether they're on the field or on the bench. Every season we usually have new players who just want to have fun and compete with their friends, and that's what we, as coaches, strive for: for them to find a place where they can express themselves and where they feel a sense of belonging.
