I am a Teacher-Librarian in the suburbs of San Diego, and I serve 2,200 students. On a typical morning, more than 150 students visit the library before school. We have close to 3,000 visits every month, not including lunch time or class visits, so it is easy to say that my library is busy. Our school has a significant refugee population from Iraq, and I have been working hard to welcome them and all students into the library. They need books and activities to help them interact and cooperate while they have fun and learn. I've built a MakerSpace with adult coloring, crafts, and some games, but I'd like to help students have engaging reading materials also. My budget is small: less than $1 per student/year, and I have to buy paper, printer ink, and other things besides books, so any extra money really helps.
