I am an early childhood teacher in Washington, DC. My school services many students and families from the local community in addition to the families from the military base. 90% of the students are eligible for free and reduced lunch. Many children at my school would rather choose a sugary snack and turn down a healthy lunch. I would like to challenge them to see what happens to that food and engage them in a hands-on conversation about what could happen to that assumed waste.
