Many of our students have never played organized sports before they come to our school. They live in a community that doesn't have many youth organizations and, often, they have to work to help support their families. Joining the softball team requires a lot of bravery and playing against other teams can build character. We love to watch the players grow as students and athletes as they participate in the team. However, most girls cannot afford the basics: balls and lineup cards. Without these supplies, they cannot practice or play. Our school does not have a large athletics budget and usually families are struggling to make ends meet. Without our help, many girls would not play.
