My students are 6th, 7th and 8th graders from various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. More than 75% are from families that receive assistance. If you enter my classroom however, you would not know that, because they are happy to be there and excited to learn something new. They enjoy playing basketball, soccer (even without a proper field) and through the arts program, has the opportunity to show their creativity through painting, dancing or playing an instrument. Once is the classroom, they are a team of thinkers sharing and discussing ideas on how to find the solution to challenging problems.
