My classroom services students in 9th-12th grade in a special education setting. My students have diverse learning profiles. Some of my students have verbal skills while others use total communication (a mix of pictures and sign language) to communicate their needs and wants. As a class we work on basic academic skills as well as life skills. We use many hands on learning opportunities to help make learning fun. Many of my students have sensory processing issues and require many sensory tools to help them regulate their minds and body. I am a passionate advocate for students with disabilities. I firmly believe that disability DOES NOT mean inability. My students learn every day....they just learn in different ways.
