"Do I have to?" This is the question I hear at least 5 times a day during our Writer's Workshop session. It is usually followed by lots of huffing and puffing and leads into a flurry of erasing activity. I teach 3rd grade in a community trying to overcome their history of violence, poverty, and crime. My students come to school bubbling over with stories to tell and it is during Writer's Workshop that we transform those stories into beautiful pieces of written word.
