My second graders are curious, energetic, funny, and eager to learn. They come to school each day with different strengths and needs, but they all want to be successful and are incredibly proud when their hard work pays off. I teach in a Title I school, and my students represent a wide range of reading abilities. Some are already confident readers, while others are still working hard to master the foundational skills they need. I love watching their confidence grow when they sound out a difficult word, read a new book, or suddenly realize, “I can do this!” My goal is for every child in my classroom to see themselves as a capable reader and experience the pride and joy that comes with reading independently.
