I work with Pre-K to 1st grade students with Special Needs. We have 1 resource room with collaborative space between 5 Special Education teachers including me. This year I’ll be teaching in the resource room for most of the day with a small group of children. We’ll be working on preparing them for integration into tier 1 instruction in the General Education classroom setting by using hands on instruction and adaptive learning while in the resource room. I will be teaching this group of children Reading, Writing, Math, Communication, Self Help Skills, and working with them on appropriate Social and Emotional Behaviors. It is easy for children to get discouraged when they see their differences from other students and inability to perform certain tasks. It is important to me that students feel included and cared for in their learning, as their learning may look different from many of their peers. Help me,help them!
