My spectacular students attend a school in the southern most part of the biggest city in Illinois. They are excited about just about everything: animals, reading a new Dr. Seuss book, gym class, lunch and sharing the other new things they learn everyday- just like any other first grader you might encounter. However, many of my students also come from families who work hard, sometimes two jobs or more, but struggle financially. They come from areas of the city with less money and even fewer jobs in this tough economy. Through it all, my students come to school, ready to learn and eager to discover the world around them.
