I work with a varied group of students from South Phoenix, Arizona. Most of my students (with special needs) are from modest, hardworking families who sometimes face challenges to fulfill their daily needs. Many of my students are accountable for paying for essential household bills like water and electricity. Despite these difficulties, the dedication and vigor with which these youngsters approach their academic work never fail to amaze me. Being the first in their family to graduate from high school or college is a common goal for students. They are motivated and want to get the most out of their public education. Their imagination and willingness to better the neighborhood around them also inspire me. There is not a better set of students I could ask for to teach!
