Hands-on labs are essential to learning science. My classroom culture revolves around students engaging with science in order to learn. I provide students with as many real-life opportunities as possible. Having VR equipment (Oculus Quest) will enhance a STEM lab I am currently building within my classroom and will provide additional experiences. The Oculus Quest will allow me to more fully captivate with virtual activities. When presented with the material in a virtual reality setting, students will be able to understand it in a deeper way by literally diving into the material they are learning. The excitement of the headsets will lead to a new level of engagement in the classroom. When students are learning new concepts, they often do not have a connection or relatable experiences. The Oculus will allow students to understand the material on a deeper level. While the possibilities are endless, some of the experiences may include virtual missions within the International Space Station, exploration of the Solar System, and examining the human eye.
