Over the course of the year, my students engaged with novels that explored important adolescent challenges, from identity struggles to peer relationships and family dynamics. Not only did they develop a deeper understanding of these issues, but they also sharpened their critical thinking and reading comprehension skills. By summarizing the plots, discussing themes, and reflecting on characters' experiences, they began to grasp the nuanced aspects of adolescent development in a meaningful way.\r\n\r\nWhat was particularly rewarding was how the books we read connected so closely with our unit on the challenges of adolescence. The novels served as a mirror to their own experiences, giving them both a sense of validation and a platform to voice their thoughts in group discussions. They were able to draw parallels between the struggles of fictional characters and their own lives, which fostered empathy and deeper engagement with the material. These discussions not only enhanced their reading skills but also helped them process and articulate their own feelings as they navigated their own adolescent journeys.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity, which allowed my students to dive into such impactful literature. Your support has made a lasting impact on their academic and personal growth.","fullyFundedDate":1730113829149,"projectUrl":"project/book-clubs/8900495/","projectTitle":"Book Clubs","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Antinori","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9814587"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_2324","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":483,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":20,"percentWhite":54,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"13.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.0,"schoolId":2324,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about A.C.
