I love that kids want to come to my classroom and sit on my couch. Sometimes they come "just to talk" and very often just to open a book and read in a quiet, comfortable atmosphere. I like my room to resemble a cozy home for my students. I believe the more "homey" my room feels, the more students will come in ready to learn. Creating a warm, inviting, safe and comfortable room is they key to setting the tone of everyone's learning. I teach high school special education and I wanted to have a classroom that my students felt comfortable in while they are learning. I have a large rug with a couch that seats two students. I have purchased these items with my own money. I am also a softball coach and a senior sponsor for the class of 2022. I always have students in my room and I love it. I would love to add additional seating to my area rug so this will allow more students to come in and have a welcoming place to be apart of.
