I like having my students explain their thinking in math. A document camera will help by enabling me to show their work to the whole class and students can then point to their work while explaining it. Additionally, I have the kids come to the whiteboards (or use personal, small sized boards) and explain their thinking, so the markers will help with that as well. Students learn best when they see each others' thinking and can compare and contrast it with their own. These tools will help them be able to show their work to the class.
