Data has shown a direct correlation with the number of books in a child's home to their reading scores. 61% of low-income families do not have a single book in their home. By cultivating a classroom library, I will be able to provide students with books that they LOVE when they otherwise may not have access to them. Students who read 15 minutes a day saw improvements way beyond the national average. As a first year teacher, I do not yet have the resources to create a classroom library that contains resources my students will benefit so much from.
