Do you remember going to math class and dreading all the paper and pencil worksheets day after day? I do, and being a visual learner, it made understanding math concepts very difficult. It wasn’t until I was shown, many years later, how to use manipulatives to visualize what was happening when I did math that I began to fully understand the concepts. My goal is to make math more engaging and fun so my family of little learners will be Rocking at Math! My students would love using manipulatives and games to gain a better conceptual understanding of the process of how math really works. Along with the paper and pencil worksheets, they will have the tools to physically manipulate the numbers they see on the paper, creating a visual image to reinforce the concepts for better understanding. The fraction tiles, and other materials that I have chosen will not only let my students visually see math unfold before their eyes but will allow me to demonstrate the process using magnetic replicas of the same materials. Please help me to help my family of little learners reach their full potential.
