Writing is an extremely important skill that has been greatly hindered through virtual learning and social media text abbreviations. Students are not practicing proper sentence structure, punctuation, or writing formats. They rely on spellcheck and grammar check, which are inefficient if you do not have basic skills. Most students do not feel formal writing is important because they are inundated with technology a text language. I want to inspire my students to be thinkers who can express their ideas through writing. The workbooks will allow me to teach the fundamentals of writing by differentiating instruction and teaching each student on his/her level. The markers, clipboards, and post-its will help students visualize sentence parts, review and revise their own writing. The books will present students with examples of different types of writing. The thesaurus, dictionary, and vocabulary builder will give students the option to take their writing skills to the next level. Lastly, the writing and grammar games will enforce positive interactions with grammar, and hopefully, build an appreciation for the skills that are necessary to become a great writer. I hope to use all these tools to help my students gain a love and an appreciation for writing. I want them to feel confident and successful no matter what level they are at. I want them to feel heard. I want them to have an outlet to express their feelings without holding back. I want them to feel confident in achieving academic success across all subject areas by having the skills to think critically and write efficiently. Most importantly, I want them to realize that they can change the world one sentence at a time!
