The last couple of years have been very challenging for students. Many students are struggling to work through the challenges that virtual learning caused. One way to help students move forward from past trauma is through writing. One word to describe my students is "resilient". I am constantly amazed by their ability to have a positive attitude in the face of uncertainty. Self-expression through writing allows students to move forward from past events. My students will be participating in a memoir/poetry unit. Memoir writing allows students to put experiences into perspective in order to learn and grow. We will also practice self-expression through poetry writing. This allows students to tap into their creative side. These writing activities will be a very important part of the healing process.
