My class needs headphones! For reading lessons, many of the students choose to have stories read to them, due to being on various reading levels. This helps with literacy development and comprehension. Many of the students are behind in these areas. Textbooks are no longer used in the classroom so most of their 'textbook' coursework is on their laptops. This is partially due to the Pandemic, since when we have to quickly shift to distance learning, they no longer have to take textbooks home. Also, students now have Chromebooks, so have access to digital textbooks, which are kept up to date online. They also have monthly testing on the computer, which requires the use of headphones. We currently only have a few pairs for the entire classroom, which I sterilize between students. Also, in the classroom, 3rd graders can get squirmy and kind of noisy at times. Imagine that! Learning is fun! And fun doesn't always happen in silence. But when it's time to work on the computer, they need to be able to hear their lessons.
