My students have struggled socially and emotionally this year. They are in Kindergarten and have spent a lot of time at home due to the pandemic. They did not get the foundation that comes from socializing with other children their age. They are still learning important social skills and how to recognize and understand emotions. These materials will help give them the tools to recognize how they feel and why they feel that way, and they will help lead us in conversations on how to best deal with these emotions. A cozy corner in the classroom can give students a place to refocus and gain control when dealing with big emotions. In the cozy corner, students will have a space where they can go to be alone and relax. The cozy corner will provide students with books for social emotional learning, fidgets, comforting buddies so that they can regain focus and self control.
