I would like magnetic fractions strips big enough for all my students to see, as I model fraction lessons for/with them at the front whiteboard. I want the fraction pieces to be big enough for students to be able to move and manipulate as I model equivalent, comparing, composing and decomposing, and adding and subtracting of fractions. Students learn by watching and then doing. Engagement is key when teaching any skill especially in math. Manipulatives make a world of difference when students can clearly see what the expectation is. These large fraction strips will clarify the expectations for students as they manipulate their own personal desk-set of fraction strips.
