My students are in the second grade this year. They love school! Most of them will tell you they would rather come to school than be away from school. They are so eager to learn! Many of my students are still suffering the long lasting and far reaching effects of COVID. Some were homeschooled for a portion of their school career, albeit short in time, bringing about catastrophic results. Due to parents’ fears of children being at school and contracting or transmitting COVID, many students missed out on quality instruction at a most crucial time. Many are now lacking reading skills they should have mastered by now. Many have undiagnosed speech issues. My school is a small rural school surrounded by dairies and commercial chicken farms. We have few local businesses. We lack many of the resources afforded to larger schools. We are in dire need. I know my students will benefit from any help you are able to give.
