These books will continue to help my students who are working on their reading comprehension, to grow into proficient readers. I have noticed that once students find that one book they can relate to, or just simply enjoy, grow their love for reading. I dedicate one day a week, typically it is Friday, to their independent reading of the book they have chosen. This is something they always look forward to. All of these books have been chosen with each student in mind, to intrigue them to read, even my students who are not so fond of reading. With these new books, my students will have a variety to choose from that will allow them to find a book of their interest to not only better their independent reading, but their reading comprehension as well. The interest for reading is there if a student can find a book that will gain their attention by being about something they enjoy. I have quite a few strong readers throughout each of my grades and the others are well on their way to becoming strong readers themselves. This project will help enrich their experiences with the printed word and maximize their reading comprehension.
