My name is Hallie LaRue and I am requesting materials for use in my third grade classroom at Liberty Elementary School in Ponca City. My students’ academic growth and progress has been impacted the last three years enrolled in public school (1st, 2nd, 3rd), because of the COVID pandemic. Teachers have followed many protocols to help mitigate the spread of COVID in the classroom. This has led to distancing students and being creative with seating arrangements within the classroom to separate students 3 to 6 feet. I am requesting a flexible seating math center to aid with activities and manipulatives so students can have extra practice with their math skills. I know after all the time separated within the classroom students are excited to collaborate and work together in small group settings. The materials requested will allow students to engage in math activities and be supportive of each others’ learning. It will also improve their understanding and retention of state math objectives taught in the classroom. Teacher observations and informal and formal assessments will allow me to evaluate students’ progress with the use of these materials. This will also allow students the enjoyment and eagerness to continue learning within the classroom.
