Literacy is the foundation for educational success. The global pandemic continues to impact the mastery of literary components in a negative way. Students need tools to combat that. As kids venture back to classrooms providing them with the necessary tools to build their educational foundation is paramount. This Classic Classroom Library is one of these tools. Reading is a part of Oklahoma Academic Standards 2 – 8 for the 8th grade. The Classic Classroom Library will be utilized to address most of these standards in a context that engages the students in meaningful ways. The educational benefits of learning language mechanics or text analysis while reading a captivating book are exponential. COVID-19 has negatively impacted the social-emotional health of many students. Research shows that reading is restorative. This Classic Classroom Library is the right tool to build a foundation of healing and present and future success for our students.
