During the pandemic, my students suffer a great deal of learning loss both academically and social emotionally. I would like to support this with class copies of books on kindness that we can read together to support their literacy gaps. We will use a 'I do, we do, two do, you do' method to support their comprehension. Monday, I will read the book to them for enjoyment and modeling of fluency. Tuesday, we will choral read to support struggling readers. Wednesday, they will read with a partner. Thursday, they will take the book home to read with a family member or pet (stuffed or real is fine). On Friday, they can take an AR reading test if they choose. This project will allow students with learning and social skills gaps to have multiple opportunities to practice reading and reflect on the value of kindness!
