I asked my first grade students what is the most valuable tool in our classroom? They agreed we use our student whiteboards most often. Our whiteboards serve as a primary tool for students to communicate with each other and their teacher. We use them to practice handwriting, write sentences, and phonics lessons. They are also used to solve math equations, addition, subtraction story problems, draw number lines, and solve number bonds. Place value lessons, identifying and drawing geometric shapes are invaluable lessons. Students respond to teacher and team member questions and problems successfully using their whiteboards.
