All of my students have unique sensory and behavioral needs. We do not have a sensory room at my school to help them meet these needs. I am seeking flexible seating options and sensory activities to help fill this gap. These items will help my students achieve the learning goal of being able to focus on an academic task for a longer period of time. It will also enable them to have the tools to practice self-regulation. By having more seating options, the students can learn in a more comfortable setting if they are having a hard time staying still or experiencing anxiety that day. The sensory equipment will help the students regulate their sensory-seeking behavior between academic activities and pay more attention in school. If a student is experiencing anxiety or overstimulation, they will have a space and task to relax with.
