Our students reside in the foster care treatment facility where I teach. Sadly, most have no homes to return to, and many are waiting for their next foster placement. Our school is small and we have no library, but we currently do have books on an old electrician's cart that we have duct-taped together to hold books. We take this library on wheels around to all of the students' homerooms so that they may check out a book. We would love an actual cart for books to do this! Many of our students grow by leaps and bounds when they have access to books that interest them. Without having a library, we have pieced together an old cart to transport our books around to the students. Having an actual book cart would make this so much easier for our students to have access to books.
