In our class motivation is a big part of helping our students learn. We constantly use a First-Then visual picture schedule to motivate our students to "first" complete their learning task and "then" be able to engage in an activity that they enjoy and can work for. For many of my students, it is a challenge to find the "then" that is motivating for them. In light of the setbacks in learning due to COVID-19, this seems to be an even greater challenge. I want to create a sensory corner in my classroom that could be used as a break for my students so they can calm, reset, and come back to their next learning task ready to learn.
