Many students come to me to reset, review, and return to have a successful day. As the restorative practice teacher, I incorporate a variety of social and emotional skill activities that assists with developing and building skills. When serious harm occurs, a restorative intervention occurs where students can understand the impact of their actions, repair the harm, and start fresh. Within yoga students have been learning how we all learn from our mistakes, encouragement goes a long way, and self-discipline is very important. Yoga mats will be used for morning yoga and a calm down strategy. Morning yoga is a breath of fresh air for a lot of students. Yoga has been assisting with student behaviors, self-esteem, strength, and endurance. Growth mindset lessons are usually delivered in a circle setting where students can have a discussion with equal opportunities of listening and sharing. Circles provide a forum where students can express how they feel, build relationships, and develop and strengthen our community of learners. The social-emotional books will assist with teaching students lifelong skills and coping with different situations.
