I am a special education teacher in grades kindergarten to third grade. The pandemic has been challenging to this population of students. The difficulties of online learning are compounded by the fact that they cannot get the hours in special education that they can in person, making the curriculum even less accessible. Using Chromebooks would help. We can not only use programs that the school provides, they can also use Khan Academy in class to target specific skills or goals they are working on. This is an additional application that can be used to teach literacy and math to students at a variety of levels. If students use the same applications at school that they can access at home, they can have better continuity and an opportunity to continue learning.
