To help my students learn amid the pandemic, I could use flexible seating options within the classroom setting. Flexible seating helps students of all abilities. It helps improve motivation, engagement, and collaboration. These items will help promote positive teacher - student relationships as well as relationships among peers. Flexible seating allows students the opportunity to move and wiggle which increases oxygen flow to the brain, leading to students being more alert and focused. Having flexible seating options within the classroom will allow my students to learn in a less stressful environment. To make my upcoming units more engaging, my students would love the option to wiggle and move while they work, specifically using the Novogratz Leyla Loveseat. I was able to purchase two flexible seating options on my own and each student who has had the opportunity to use them has been more calm, focused, and productive. The desired outcome includes increased engagement, happier students, a higher participation rate, more invigorating conversations, and improved testing stamina and content knowledge. To bring my dream learning activity to life, I’d love to get flexible seating options within the classroom.
