To help my students learn amid the pandemic I could use more hands on manipulatives and activities that are fun! Students, unfortunately, are missing so much school nowadays due to sickness that pencil and paper isn’t cutting it anymore-they need hands on activites now more than ever. School is hard enough for students WHEN they are able to be present everyday-I would love to incorporate more games and activities that reinforce what we are learning. Shut the Box is an easy game that reinforces math facts. Memorizing these facts is imperative as we use them in almost everything we do from the beginning to the end of our school year! Memorization is key- it makes the new skills I teach easier to understand. It can be played with 1-4 players which also encourages social skills between my young students. I have many students and I feel they could greatly benefit from having more than one game so multiple students can play together. The fraction war card game is fantastic for comparing fractions! They can use their white boards and expo markers to check their answers. Learning mixed with fun, we can't go wrong! The polyhedral dice are wonderful for multiplication and division games between students as well. They can do this with multiple student involvement, again promoting social skills while learning at the same time. My students love math mystery packets and escape rooms which is why I chose "Mathological Liar". These types of games force them to think outside the box while using math skills all at the same time! We are always in need of basic supplies such as scissors, expos, and glue sticks. We use them all just about daily for math-we go through a lot!
