The students who attend Chess club, after years of not being able to socialize in this way, are incredible. Chess club is a space for students to play and learn simultaneously. It stretches their logic skills, their pattern recognition, and their ability to memorize. It teaches them how to research, ask questions, and understand complex notation. It also creates kind, supportive, and yet competitive students who know how to be themselves while tackling extremely difficult problems. My students have grown tremendously, and now they want to compete. These timers will help them prepare to do that, and there is nothing that would make them happier.
