I will be requesting 10 Fire Tablets. These tablets will be mainly used in a separate area in our room that we will call our reading lab. We will be able to download Audio books from Kindle that are high interest, low level readers. The reading speed can be adjusted on these Fires allowing the students to read along as the story is being read. I've been surprised to learn there is a sizable amount of research that shows the benefit this has in improving beginning reading skills, especially with our Special Needs students. This same reading strategy can be used at home if virtual learning is necessary. Some of this research referred to, can be referenced at Launching Young Readers!
