In both AP Calculus and AP Statistics, graphing calculators play a critical role. The AP curriculum actually requires their use. In my classroom, I have several activities that help strengthen conceptual understanding that are also based on calculator Use. Unfortunately, sometimes students avoid the class because they can’t afford them. Every student should be able to take these courses regardless of their economic standing. These calculators I am requesting will be used for students who can’t afford the graphing calculators required for AP Calculus and AP Statistics. We will have them available for checkout through our library. I will encourage students with financial difficulties to check one out for the year. So they will be useful to students for years to come. Hopefully, this will also encourage all students to take theses courses.
