Imagine being in a situation where something is scary, and you don’t have the level of vocabulary needed to properly express your feelings. You may act out aggressively or cry excessively. Families have been experiencing high levels of stress due to the pandemic and the little ones are feeling the strain. My goal through Dramatic Play is to teach the children how to react appropriately to different settings they experience in their worlds. Children will use dramatic play to explore their own feelings and thoughts. They will develop appropriate vocabulary and learn how to solve problems peacefully. Dramatic play teaches self-regulation and gives the children an emotional outlet. It also shows the important role that community helpers have in our society.
