Rocketbook smart notebooks, in combination with student Chromebooks, will help “grow big brains” (as my students like to say). In Science, we draw visual models to represent key concepts. Creating these models helps students learn to communicate and share ideas. The Rocketbooks are reusable smart notebooks that digitally transfer, store, and share handwritten models and notes. Scientific data supports the need for students to be physically writing (not typing) to help establish/strengthen neurological pathways in the brain. The smart notebooks will help stimulate hand/brain development for my students, especially those who are working remotely by allowing them to easily write in their Rocketbook, capture the image using their devices, and digitally share/communicate their handwritten work. In the midst of this pandemic, our students have learned to juggle different academic environments as they navigate between the physical classroom and virtual/distance learning. Our school uses 1:1 Chromebook technology. Our students can check out wifi hotspots, and our city has established free wifi, easing the transitions from buildings to homes. Through digital access, The Rocketbooks will help our remote students continue to create and share their ideas as they would in physical space.
