A lot of the students in my classroom come from low income families. In addition to this, COVID-19 made materials difficult to get and more expensive. The school supplies in this project help to provide necessities essential to learning. Food and snacks also fall into this category. Many students come to school having not eaten breakfast, without bringing a lunch, or very hungry after a weekend. Having energy at school is important to growth and learning, and food provides this energy. Fruit snacks, crackers, cup of noodles, and trail mix give students a boost when they may need it and allow students to feel cared for at school.
