Help me give my students an adventure to experience the world beyond the classroom using books and a once-in-a-lifetime field trip experience! The goal of this project and lesson aims to bring exposure to diversity through travel and bridge the gap for young black kids to learn more about the world. The students will have the opportunity to read and do some book studies about black characters that travel and also the opportunity to experience an out-of-town field trip. Many of our students have not ventured outside of their 4 blocks and this project aims to change that! Providing luggage to a few students who may not have more than a school-issued book-bag will help make the field trip experience more memorable.
